Attack of the Planet Smasher - NEIPA

Product Release Date:

April 1, 2025

Artist:

Delilah Tackaberry

Attack of the Planet Smasher is a juicy, hazy New England IPA that highlights the vibrant character of Southern Cross hops and the smooth depth of Gambrinus IPA Malt. Southern Cross, a New Zealand hop known for its bright citrus, tropical fruit, and subtle pine notes, brings a zesty essence to the brew without overwhelming bitterness. Gambrinus IPA Malt, a versatile North American base malt, provides a delicate balance of bready sweetness, toasty grain, and light nuttiness, giving this S.M.A.S.H.* beer a soft, pillowy body. At 5.4% ABV and 13 IBUs, it’s refreshingly smooth and easy-drinking, with a glowing golden haze. This sequel to Planet Smasher trades punchy bitterness for a luscious, hop-saturated experience—inviting you to embrace the next evolution in flavor.

* SMASH = Single Malt and Single Hop, so other than yeast and water, there is only 2 ingredients.

But enough about how tasty it is - check out the art. We brought back Delilah Tackaberry who did the artwork on the original Planet SMASHer. This is the first (and so far only) label to be made as a vertical (portrait) style art work. The idea here was to have a label you could roll off the can and make into a little mini poster of sorts. Movie poster style.

Following on the success of the original Planet SMASHer, our hero, the planet, is about to be pummeled by the dreaded Planet Smasher! It's a battle of cosmic proportions! And for those beer nerds out there - Southern Cross (or Crux) is the smallest of the 88 modern constellations, located in the southern sky and easily recognized by its four bright, cross-shaped stars. It serves as a vital navigational tool, pointing toward the South Pole, and is deeply significant in Southern Hemisphere culture and flags. It is best viewed in May. So we're keeping with the space theme.

Will we do another space themed SMASH beer? Of course! They are tasty and fun to make. And we can play with popular movie titles while we are at it. To In-Villainy and Beyond! (not a Buzz Lightyear quote)
